License Due Dilligence

Using the Open Source tools set is a great way to accelerate development while keeping high quality and low costs. Contrary to popular belief however, software released under an Open Source or Free Software licenses is not software in the public domain and some Open Source and Free Software licenses pose specific terms that must, that while not monetary in nature, must  be kept in order to distribute the software legally.

Failing to abide by the Open Source license terms is copyright infringement and can result in legal charges being pressed against the offending party. Luckily, keeping the terms is an easy task, if the issue is dealt with correctly from the development onset. Otherwise, costs maybe associated with fixing issues later on.

Together and in cooperation with Israels leading expert on the subject, the Internet and & IT group of Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer, led by PCZL partner, Adv. Haim Ravia, Codefidence offers Open Source source license compliance due diligence, best practices and policy.

Remember! abiding by the terms of Open Source licenses is much easier if the issues are considered and policy put in place sooner rather then later.
